01 — The Brief

The Challenge

This poster came out of a class brief at IIE Vega: take an iconic piece of fashion — Virgil Abloh's Louis Vuitton sneaker — and turn it into a single, standalone poster that could sit in a gallery of student work without looking like a school project.

The tight 3-day turnaround meant there was no room for a long exploration phase; the concept had to be decided early and executed cleanly.

Key requirements:

  • Center the composition on the sneaker as the hero subject
  • Balance luxury fashion polish with streetwear attitude
  • Strong type treatment that reads at a glance
  • Deliver a single, print-ready poster in three days
02 — Role & Process

How I Got There

I worked solo on this brief, acting as both designer and art director for the piece from concept through to final export.

Responsible for: concept, vector illustration and typography, image editing, and final layout.

Tools: Illustrator for the precise vector work and typography; Photoshop for detailed image editing and layering.

  • Gathered reference imagery of the sneaker and Abloh's design language
  • Sketched two or three layout directions before picking one
  • Built the vector and type elements in Illustrator
  • Layered and refined the imagery in Photoshop
  • Finalized colour, contrast, and export for print
03 — Design Decisions

Getting the Details Right

The composition leans on a strong visual hierarchy — the sneaker sits dead-center and everything else, type included, is built to support it rather than compete with it.

Type treatment is dynamic rather than static, echoing the energy of streetwear graphics, while the overall grid and spacing stay disciplined to keep the luxury-fashion side of the brief intact.

Reduce until only the essential mark is left.

Challenge: making a fashion-brand poster feel current without losing Louis Vuitton's polish. This was solved by keeping the palette restrained and letting one bold typographic move carry the streetwear energy instead of overloading the whole page.

04 — Final Outcome

What Shipped

The final deliverable is a single, print-ready poster that highlights the sneaker's iconic status through clean branding integration and confident type.

It was submitted as part of the class brief and now sits in my portfolio as a fast-turnaround example of taking a strong concept from brief to finished asset in three days.

What I'd Take Forward

A three-day turnaround forced fast, decisive concepting — there wasn't time to second-guess the direction once it was chosen, which is a good discipline to carry into real client timelines.

Next time, I'd push the exploration phase slightly earlier so there's room to test two competing type treatments before locking one in.
